Life Cycles
Seeds fall from the great tree every 15 years. As many as 50 new
acorns will take root during birthing years. The Walking Wood can live to be up to 120 years old,
should no disease or invader find them first.
Upon dying, it is tradition for each villager to consume a small piece of the fallen member's acorn to absorb some of their memories. The rest of the acorn is then broken down into mulch, to be absorbed by the roots of the Great Tree, further increasing the cycle of knowledge.
Close friends of the deceased may take additional scraps to create a memento. The scraps are commonly turned into something useful, like the handle of a tool, or something decorative.
